The world of auditioning can be extremely daunting, especially for people less fortunate than others. At McKenzie Associates, we’re always extremely happy to offer advice and guidance to help people understand how best to present themselves in an audition situation. Last week, some of The Starr Trust Champions came to our office in Palmeria Square to talk about how to pursue their dream careers in show business. It’s always an honour to show people the ropes of our industry, and this was no exception.
Our boardroom was filled with people who all had very different ideas for their career path, including musicians, actors, and an aspiring director. Our session offered help with getting your CV noticed by agents, how to make showreels, and how to choose material to present at auditions. We also helped each of these Starr Trust Champions to identify a unique selling point that would be useful for them when it came to auditions.
The session was hosted by Lukas Wojcik, a director of McKenzie Associates, and Stuart Dawes, an agent with us who has been working in showbiz since he was 7 years old. We would like to thank each and every one of the children who came down to see us. It was a pleasure getting to know you. We would also like to thank Mel Stoner from The Starr Trust for organising the workshop.
The Starr Trust is a wonderful charity based in Brighton which aims to help children ages 10-18 achieve their goals. It does this by offering financial assistance to those less fortunate people who may otherwise lack the monetary means of achieving what they want to achieve. The Starr trust helps children in the BN postcode area of England, but it’s reach is felt far beyond. You can read more about the wonderful work they do on their website.
